NFL 2008 – Week 6

Well it was nice to pick above .500 again last week, barely.  At 45-29 for the season it’s time to change the way I look at these games.  I expect a big week this week.

Eagles over 49ers.  Philly’s defense comes through in this one.  Thank God.

Falcons over Bears.  I just have more confidence in Matt Ryan and the Falcon’s new found pride at home against Kyle Orton and the Bears.

Dolphins over Texans.  Look for Miami to keep running that college play with Ronnie Brown until somebody stops it.  New England and San Diego couldn’t, so I presume Houston won’t either.

Vikings over Lions.  No comment.

Saints over Raiders.  Saints at home with something to prove after Monday Night.  Look for no 1st half onside kick from N.O.

Redskins over Rams.  Even if the Redskins aren’t really for real, they’re still more for real than the Lambs.

Bengals over Jets.  My upset road pick of the week.

Colts over Ravens.  In the “You moved the team out of our city bowl,” Indy will prove to be a tough place for the rookie Flacco to play.

Buccaneers over Panthers.  Tough game.  Should be a good game.  I give Tampa a field goal edge for home field and the “rising tide lifts all boats” effect from the Rays playing in the ALCS for the first time ever.

Jaguars over Broncos.  I am expecting Jax to find their running game against the Denver defense in much the same way KC did with Larry Johnson.

Seahawks over Packers.  Yes, you heard me right.  I am using the point spread argument on this one.  They (they being the people who seem to get it consistently right when it comes to picking spreads) are just begging us to take the Packers.  So that’s why I like Seattle.

Cowboys over Cardinals.  I really wanted to pick AZ, but I went with the averages on this one.  I figure most people are going to go with Dallas, so if I do too and AZ wins, I don’t get as hurt as if I pick AZ and Dallas wins.

Chargers over Patriots.  The AFC Championship Game rematch goes to the Bolts.

Giants over Browns.  Browns have locker room trouble.  Oh yea and the defending Super Bowl Champs are pretty good.
