My Top TV Theme Songs

Photobucket

I’m not stupid enough (okay maybe stupid enough, but not so full of myself) to think that people care what my top TV themes are.  I know that Tiger Beat magazine is not looking for more info on “yours truly,” and this post will help them cross yet another question off their list.  I think the whole point of a post like this is to get you thinking about what your favorites are, and maybe take you away from your stressful day for a moment and remember a time when life was fun.  That’s all (See it’s about you, not me).

I would say comment me with your favorites, but the last two times I tried that I got ZERO comments.  Without further ado, here are the themes.  I took the liberty of splitting them into “Themes with Vocals,” and “Instrumental Themes.”

With Vocals:

5. The Greatest American Hero
4. The Sopranos
3. The Jeffersons
2. Cheers
1. Welcome Back, Kotter

Honorable Mention: WKRP in Cincinnati, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Love Boat, All in the Family

Instrumentals:

5. CHiPs
4. Miami Vice
3. Magnum P.I.
2. M*A*S*H
1. The Rockford Files

If my taste in TV themes is too “extreme right wing” for you, I say, “Up your nose with a rubber hose.”

Honorable mention to Starsky & Hutch too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhVdCubsMqo&NR=1 Very 70′s

  3. Good call on both of those JCW. I should also give a shout out to The Munsters too. The surfy-Malibu guitar sound juxtaposed with the eerie tune really kind of worked for the time and the campiness of the show.

  4. 2 more iconic themes: Baretta in the Vocals category, and Charlie’s Angels in the Instrumentals.
