And The Winner Is … Everyone. Yay!!!

What if every college football player got a Heisman Trophy at an end-of-the-year sports banquet.  Hell, why limit it to the football players?  Why not the lacrosse players, the swimmers, the girls’ field hockey team?  That’s alot of winners.  Wow, I would imagine everyone’s buttons would be busting.  The confidence that would come from such an accomplishment will surely follow those students throughout their lives.

Speaking of students, why not give everyone who participates in school an “A”, and by participates, I mean you have to be enrolled.  Why not?  Doesn’t feeling good about yourself translate to success?  I know I always felt pretty pretty good whenever I got an “A.”  And look at me now, I have my very own internet blog, and a tee shirt business that will one day offer tee shirts for sale.

But why wait until people get to college to give them this special treatment.  Wouldn’t it make more sense to start with the children?  The sweet, innocent, non-competitive children.  Youth sports is the perfect place to start.  Every game could end in a tie, better yet teams could get penalized for winning.  And most importantly, everybody gets a trophy!  Who cares if the world misses out on the next great scientist because he was too busy receiving accolades for his mediocre fielding.  It’s just science.  And if a potential grammy winning musician never realizes her gift because she is too busy collecting field hockey participation medals, so what?

The important thing is that we instill in these children the ideal that if everybody loses… then everybody wins.
