2008 NFL – Week 2

Here are my office pool picks. All straight-up with NO point-spread (by the way, I was a thoroughly unimpressive 10-6 last week):

Jaguars over Bills.  Jax looked pretty bad last week and Buffalo looked pretty good, but I still gotta go with the Jags in their home opener.

Bears over Panthers.  Flipped a coin.

Titans over Bengals.  Bengals just seem like an ineffective team to me, and I like the fact Kerry Collins is gonna play for the Titans.  Plus, look for Tennessee to try to prove they’re tougher than their QB would have us believe.

Saints over Redskins.  I’m still confident with the premise that the Redskins stink.

Packers over Lions.  What can I say, Detroit lost to the Falcons last week.

Giants over Rams.  It may not be as sound a beating as the Eagles gave the Rams last week, but this one won’t be as close as the final score would have you believe.

Chiefs over Raiders.  Seemed like one of the easier ones this week.

Vikings over Colts.  First of all, when the wheels fall off Indy, they lose a couple in a row.  Secondly Minnesota was #1 against the run last year, not to mention the best rushing offense.  The Colts won’t be able to run against them which will put all the pressure on the knee of Peyton Manning who is without his center.  Could be a long day for him.

Seahawks over 49ers.  Seattle gets a win at home.

Buccaneers over Falcons.  Falcons come back down to earth this week.

Cardinals over Dolphins.  Sure the Dolphins are better than last year, but so is AZ.  Plus, I would just love to see the Desert Birds go 2-0.

Patriots over Jets.  Sure, Brady’s out, but I think we’ll see a 4 or 5 INT game from Favre.  He got alot of the credit that Mike McCarthy deserved last season.

Ravens over Texans.  Flipped a coin.

Broncos over Chargers.  Chargers should win, but I have a tough time picking against the broncos at home.  Plus, Phillip Rivers rubs me the wrong way.

Steelers over Browns.  Cleveland is probably better than 0-2, but Pittsburgh looks too tough to let them get their first win.

Eagles over Cowboys.  Philly plays Romo and TO very tough.  I look for this one to be pretty close late, so I’m gonna give the biased nod to my Eagles.

Okay, here are my Over the Total Score picks for Week 2:

As I said last week, my formula was 12-2-2 last year, but past performance is not an indication of future results.  People can and do lose money.  Gambling problem?  Call 1-800-GAMBLER.

Panthers/Bears over 37

Buccaneers/Falcons over 37.5

Chargers/Broncos over 46
